Women’s Luncheon with Anita Barker Barnes
11 am-12:30 pm
Early Bird Cost: $25
Regular Cost: $30
On-site Cost: $35
Limit: 250 attendees

On Wednesday we invite you to come together, fellowship, and be fed at the Women’s Luncheon where our theme is “Purified to Proclaim: Generation to Generation.” The Birmingham Host Committee and the Committee on Discipleship Ministries have planned a delicious lunch, worship music, and inspirational “Generation to Generation” stories from speaker Anita Barker Barnes, daughter of Dr. Frank Barker, Jr., Briarwood Presbyterian Church’s Founding Pastor. Anita’s message will not only entertain you, but also encourage and equip you with some practical strategies for intentionally and relationally transferring the truth of the Gospel from one generation to the next.

Movie at Alabama Theater

Early Bird Cost: $8.00
Regular Cost: $10
On-site Cost: $15

After the luncheon, join us for a fun afternoon in Birmingham’s historic Alabama Theatre as we not only enjoy the ornate architecture and grandeur of the theatre but also watch a hilarious movie together! We have reserved the theatre to enjoy its beauty, take advantage of fun photo ops, and watch Moms’ Night Out, which was produced by Birmingham brothers Andy and Jon Erwin and was filmed here in the city. It’s the story of 3 friends who desperately needed a girls’ night out together. In order for this to happen, they have to rely on their husbands to babysit for 3 hours. Everything that could go wrong does, resulting in an unforgettable night for all! (Rated PG). Even if you’ve seen the movie before, enjoy it again in this beautiful setting with female friends who “get it”!! Perfect entertainment for a hot summer day! Concessions will be available.

Bus will leave from the main lobby entrance of the Sheraton at 12:50 p.m. and will return at 3:50 p.m.

Thursday, June 18

Tour of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

Early Bird Cost: $27
Regular Cost: $32
On-site Cost: $37
Limit: 50

You will see the struggles and triumphs of the civil rights movement chronicled in a dramatic, multimedia museum. Despite the tragic nickname “Bombingham” that circulated worldwide, the quest for racial reconciliation is spreading throughout Birmingham. As Christ followers, we should be in the forefront leading others to learn that we were all created by our loving Creator from one family line. To that end, we are so thankful that God has blessed our presbytery with three churches that are led by African American pastors and are reaching to predominantly African American communities. During our lunchtime, we will get a chance to hear from these pastors’ wives and hear about their ministries. Don’t miss this chance to be blessed and challenged! This tour is limited to 50 women.

Bus will leave from the main lobby entrance of the Sheraton at 9:30 am and return at 2:30 pm.
