Building Emotional Resilience Amid the Longsuffering of Ministry
Rev. Stephen Jones and Rev. Spencer Thomas, Counselling Global
Ministry leaders often carry the emotional weight of shepherding others, and enduring wounds inflicted by those they serve. Scripture’s guidance is frequently reduced to “turn the other cheek,” overlooking deeper resources for resilience. This session integrates biblical principles with counseling insights from attachment theory, particularly Emotionally Focused Therapy, to equip leaders with practical tools to process challenges, experience Christ’s comfort, and build resilience.
Objectives
• Understand emotional resilience through an attachment framework.
• Experience Christ’s comfort amid ministry pain using 2 Corinthians 1.
• Apply practical tools to strengthen emotional and spiritual health.
