Exploring Hospice Care within the Church
Deborah R. Hoopes and Duncan Hoopes, Reidville Presbyterian, SC
Hospice care in America emerged to provide holistic care to the terminally ill, offering the church an opportunity to integrate medical and spiritual care. When a congregant receives a hospice diagnosis, shock and confusion often follow, along with difficult questions about care and providers. Drawing from more than a decade of hospice volunteer leadership, this seminar will help elders and church members navigate end-of-life decisions while exploring how hospice fosters service, compassion, and meaningful care for both patients and families.
