God’s Inexpressible Gift: The Gospel and the Generosity Movement

The seminar will consider Bible passages about, or commonly understood to be about, wealth and giving. We will give special attention to Deuteronomy 8 and its quotation by Christ, the Parable of the Talents (and the Parable of the Sower), and II Corinthians 8 and 9. Questions addressed will include what are the purposes of wealth and giving, whether we are owners of the wealth God gives or entrusts to us, or really only stewards, and what is the relation of giving to the Great Commandment to the Gospel of Grace. The seminar will conclude with a brief practical consideration of how to steward not one’s wealth, but one’s giving.
