Publics, Counterpublics, and Christian Apologetics

Justin McLendon, AZ Presbytery, King of Kings Church

2026

Many Christians today sense that traditional apologetic approaches often feel less effective than they once did. Arguments that are logically sound and confessionally faithful are often met with indifference or suspicion rather than engagement. This seminar explores why that is and how the church can respond with renewed clarity and confidence. Drawing on insights about culture and community formation, participants will consider how people are shaped by shared stories, habits, and loyalties before formal arguments are heard. The goal is not to replace classical apologetics, but to strengthen its effectiveness within today’s cultural context.
